Ages and Stages

The Office of Childcare Licensing is now requiring all enrolled families to complete an Ages and Stages questionnaire for their child.

The Ages and Stages Questionnaires, Third Edition (ASQ-3) and Social Emotional (ASQ:SE-2) help you track your child’s development. The questionnaires include questions about your child’s communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving, personal social skills and social emotional skills in addition to questions about some of your child’s behaviors.  The questionnaires may be used to guide teachers in goal and lesson planning for your child. Childcare centers will now be partnering with school districts and the Birth to Age 3 Program to provide the Ages and Stages Questionnaires to all families.

Once you complete BOTH questionnaires (ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE2), the Appoquinimink School District or Birth to Age 3 Program will review completed screenings and follow up with families as needed. Bethesda Child Development Center will continue to have access to completed questionnaires to allow teachers to individualize activities and lesson plans for children.
